TMGA, Terminales Marítimos de Galicia, has obtained the EMAS certification for environmental management that allows evaluating the environmental impact, improving it in quantitative and qualitative terms and declaring it officially and transparently.
With this certification, TMGA goes a step beyond ISO 14001 and aims to encourage other organizations to develop correct environmental attitudes and tasks, making them see that, in a simple way, it can contribute to a sustainable development of the activity.
Although the implementation of an Environmental Management System in accordance with EMAS is totally voluntary, TMGA has decided to adhere it because it considers that it is the best instrument to make fully transparent its commitment to society to carry out its business activity with the minor possible impact on the environment.

It covers all economic sectors and is applicable worldwide. EMAS is based on the ISO 14001 standard, although it contains its own requirements that make it a model of excellence for environmental management.
The EMAS scope obtained by TMGA includes the »Port cargo handling service: loading, unloading, stowage, unloading and transshipment of ship merchandise. Commercial services of storage, loading and unloading of trucks and wagons » .
